MISSION STATEMENT

To introduce elementary age children to the Bible, concentrating on the teachings of Jesus Christ, and to instruct the children in the Catechism of the Catholic Church so they will embrace their faith and become committed members of our Catholic faith community.

The K-6 Religious Education Program assists parents on their Catholic faith journey as they guide their children in their spiritual growth.  This includes Sacrament preparation (First Reconciliation, Confirmation, First Communion, and Extraordinary Sacrament Preparation). Classes meet weekly on Wednesdays during the school year at 4:00-5:15 p.m., 5:30-6:45 p.m., or 7:00-8:15 p.m. To enroll your child fill out the online form or contact the parish office.

Sacraments  2026-2027 school year begins the implementation of the Salina Diocese-wide transition to the Restored Order of the Sacraments of Initiation (ROSI).  Detailed information on ROSI can be found HERE.  All Sacraments are conferred at your parish; therefore, Manhattan Catholic School students will continue to receive faith formation at school but will receive their Sacraments at their respective parish.  MCS students that will receive a Sacrament will need to enroll religious education.  There will be a Sacrament Only option for Catholic school students.

Restored Order of the Sacraments of Initiation

Starting in the 2026-27 School year we will begin the Restored Order of the Sacraments of Initiation (ROSI).  Previously children in 2nd Grade received First Reconciliation and Communion and 10th Graders received Confirmation.  In 2026-27 2nd Graders will receive First Reconciliation.  There will be no First Communion class this school year.  All the children caught in the middle of this transition will have the opportunity to receive Confirmation at the Confirmation Masses we will over throughout the next year.  Families have the option to choose to have all their 3rd-10th Graders confirmed at one Mass or separately or in future years.  If you have questions about why we are doing this click the button below for a page dedicated to providing information about the what and why.  For specific questions or concerns do not hesitate to reach out to us at 785-776-5151.
