Alleluia! Happy Easter! We are not quite halfway through this joyous season of the 50 days of Easter. Christ is victorious over death, and we continue to celebrate our new life in the Resurrection!
As we walk in this new life during the month of May, we honor the bearer of Christ, the most Blessed Virgil Mary. Our Lady: Mary, Mother of the Church is the perfect mother of us all, and she cares for and intercedes for us. Take time this month to honor her by praying the Rosary or another Marian devotion. Take the time to reflect on the Seven Joys of Mary. Ask yourself, “Is the Blessed Mother an active ‘mother’ in my life?” and invite her to be. Strive to imitate the Blessed Mother’s virtues in your own life: ardent charity, profound humility, blind obedience, divine wisdom, etc.
And Happy Mother’s Day to all our earthly mothers! In various ways, we honor our mothers and show them how much we love and appreciate them. Whether they are still with us on earth or not, our mothers continue to bless us with their love and presence in our lives. “By her children a mother belongs to that future which perhaps she will not see.” (Second Vatican Council) Our mothers have laid down their lives for us in countless ways, and we are eternally grateful.
We thank you, God, for the gift of our mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, mothers-in-law…all those who mother us. Give to them the good that they have given to us and bless them with your abundant love and grace!
