Our Priests & Deacons


Fr. Frank Coady

Fr. Frank Coady was ordained in 1976.  His ministry has mostly involved parish ministry, liturgy, and education.  He has done pastoral ministry in Junction City (1975-83), Salina (1985-92; 1997-2015), Clyde & Clifton (1194-97), and Gypsum (1998).  Most recently, he was pastor of Sacred Heart Cathedral (2012-15).  He also works for the diocese as Director of Liturgy, Director of Deacons, and Director of Pastoral Ministry Formation for the Salina and Dodge City Dioceses.  He taught at Marymount College (1985-89).  He was an adjunct instructor at Benedictine College (1990-92) and has been an adjunct instructor at Newman University since 1994.  He is currently on the Board of Regents of Newman University.




Deacon Wayne Talbot

Dcn Wayne Talbot has been with our parish since 2000 and his ministry has evolved over time.  Some of his duties include bible studies, RCIA, hospital ministry, work with the councils, building security, etc.  Dcn Wayne feels blessed to be a part of St. Thomas More and enjoys working with people.  The parish feels like one big family that is broad and diverse in talent and personality.  There is not a dull moment in ministry!  He is supported by his wife, Kathryn, and his two children, Roman and Sarah.  His family is an active part of the life of St. Thomas More.  Dcn Wayne graduated with a Masters in Theological Studies from St. Meinrad in Indiana.  He grew up in Clay Center and went to Hannibal, MO, for high school seminary, Conception Seminary for college, and Mundelein, IL, for two semesters.




Deacon Larry Erpelding

Dcn Larry Erpelding was ordained a deacon in 2009.  He and his wife, Donna, have been members of St. Thomas More since its beginning in 1980.  His career involved teaching, couseling, and administration.  He retired from Kansas State University in 2005.  Some of his parish activities over 35 years have included: teaching religious education, parish council, education committee, leading bible studies, BeFrienders, Knights of Columbus, RCIA, and capital campaigns.  Dcn Larry also served on the diocesan Stewards of Hope Pastoral Plan and is currently on the diocesan Catholic Charities Board and Diaconate Committee.  He serves as chaplain at Via Christi Village-Manhattan.  He and Donna have three grown children and six grandchildren.




Deacon Buzz Harris

Dcn Buzz Harris was ordained a deacon in 2009.  He has been a member of St. Thomas More since 1983.  He was born in Wamego and moved to Centralia in 1953.  He attended grade school and high school in Centralia before attending Kansas State Univeristy.  He married Rose Marie Koch in 1970 and is currently vice president of Liberty Inc which manufactures Travalum aluminum trailers.  Some of the areas at St. Thomas More in which he is involved include RCIA, Care Committee, Knights of Columbus, Grounds, and various other activities as the needs arise.
